I'm baaaccckkk!

So I'm back after a sudden period of awayness, about as sudden as a lightning strike...

We had some pretty serious storms here last week, during which we got a very nice direct hit around 11pm, after that did a quick walk around the house, no damage, good to see, everything is as it should be... Except for that little fire out the front of the house in a Telecom pit

Two fire trucks, an inspection by firefighters of our house, and two of our neighbors places. Our direct neibours house had everything connected to the "net" (computer, modem etc) go bang, which required a whole re-wire. Our neibours on their side had a few things go bang. We (somehow) got away damage free, except for our trailer, which was parked over the pit and needs rewiring, even our phone still works fine.

Except for the several hundred meters of internet cable that has being destroyed. I'm currently using a Telstra mobile USB which I picked up today

So yea, I'm here, just not completely. At least I can finally access my Steam games again!

Lol Who that wasn't a storm in was Sunday sleepy rain.

Always amazes me living in Tassie when theres a thunderstorm it makes front page news in the Mercury.

Should move to where I used to live in NSW then you will know the definition of a thunder storm and they hit at least once or twice a fortnight unlike Tassie where its once in a blue moon and even then the Tassie ones are weak as piss where as the NSW are actually scary at times although over in WA there even worse.

Not good it hitting the telecom pit though, that would drive me insane. But you got your self a pre paid stick so its better than no Internet at all.

Haha I was talking about the one from last fortnight Tuesday, that wasnt a bad storm, seen better as well though.

So we found out why our connection was dead, apparently our modem/router blew up, wouldnt have thought it since it was still getting power, but oh well, DSL was dead in it...

Bought and installed a new one today, still not getting connection on my desktop... the LAN component on my motherboard has gone as well, and I dont have any avaliable ports on the board to put a new one in

On the plus side, I have a (near) valid reason for a new computer

We got a few of those surgecube protector things after a lightning strike fried our old tv. Many years ago. Have a look in dick smith for the 'belkin' insured ones but dont buy them there, daylight robbery.
