TV Series Worth Watching
"Suits" would have to be one of the best crafted TV Series I've watched for a long time, especially if your looking for intelligent story telling without the over the top bombardment of violence and swearing with plots written for dysfunctional 13 year olds.
The story orientated around a US law firm sounds unlikely to captivate, but even after the very first episode you realise there are still people out there capable of creating good television.
If you haven't seen this, do yourself a favor and start watching from the beginning, brilliant script writing, fantastic acting, well crated, definitely engaging. I'll wager you'll be hooked after watching the first episode, even your girlfriend will want more, only down side is, she will want Harvey.

Currently they are still creating series 2 and have just finished s2e3 at the time of this post.

I remember you mentioning this a while back and when I was at JB HiFi the other day I couldn't remember the name of the show, so was unable to look for it.
Next time I'm there I'll check it out.

Re: TV Series Worth Watching
Yes V, a very good show. I have been waiting for the second series and it doesn't disappoint one little bit. Excellent show for all the reasons you outlines above.
A couple of others that have really been great in the last year:
- Prime Suspect: US remake of the British cop show and done really well.
- Fringe: awesome sci-fi about a parallel universe. Four seasons of pure sci-fi excellence.
- Person of Interest: an ex-spec forces dude and a geek billionaire use a secret govt. AI to stop murders from happening.
these are just a few of the excellent shows floating around at the moment (though I think Fringe has finished) and as well there should be follow up series for The Event and Homeland.

Bought Suits on the weekend. JB HiFi were selling season 1 for $20, and remember you recommended it, so I grabbed a copy.
Have not had a chance to watch it yet, but will prob do so this coming weekend.

Re: TV Series Worth Watching
Oh speaking of lawyer shows .. this one is done by the ABC (ie Australia Broadcasting Comm..)
When I read the blub for suits - it reminded me of another series called Rake. There's no high powered courtroom drama, controversial murder cases etc.
The main character is a smart mouthed lawyer working in the Aussie legal system. He's brialliantly clever, but terminally lazy as well as being a slob who's house looks like he's a squatter there, with dirty clothes all over the floor, discarded liquor bottles and pizza boxes.
He shows up to court with a blinding hangover, more often than not and is constantly being hounded by debt collectors, the tax office etc.
Not sure how it'll do in the US, as it's more in the tradition of british humour (subtle sarcasm and innuendo) vs the slapstick/social embarassment approach that US comedy seems to take.
Only one season has aired here so far, but it's well worth a look - very funny indeed.

Re: TV Series Worth Watching
Havent being able to find Suits on DVD yet, hoping to have another look at JB sometime this week see if they have it in.
However, one show that I did start watching is "Breaking Bad", heard a bit about it and had seen it in JB, finally decided to pick up the first 3 seasons in the 2 for 1 sale. Really pleased I did, that's one show I cant recommend highly enough.

Oh yeah - that has the guy from Malcolm in the Middle. A mate of mine recommended that show a while back, as well as another one called Weeds.
Have not had a chance to look at either so I can't honestly give an opinion.

Re: TV Series Worth Watching
Hey fellas this is a new one that sparehead got me onto and I feel it's fantastic and will be right up the alley of many of you here. I wont bother explaining what it is about. All I will say is that you lose big time if you dont watch it
quick edit, it is called Utopia
Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utopia_%28TV_series%29
apologies s3v .. i don't like to edit other ppls posts, but i moved that piratebay link out of the post - not that i personally care, but as admin i kinda feel we shouldn't be seen to be promoting torrents ..
- i'm sure everyone can google for it if they want to take a look - I should also add though, this looks pretty good - I'll definitely be taking a look when I can

Re: TV Series Worth Watching
So I ended up checking it out... And tore through the first 4 episodes on one day and the remaining 2 on the following. To met its a brilliant piece of TV and interesting to see how it develops.
It reminds me of another British TV show called Black Mirror. So far it consists of two seasons, 3 episodes a season, completely unrelated episodes/stories, each vastly different to the other. The writers have done a brilliant job of cramming that much story into 45min episodes. Thats one I highly recommend myself!

Re: TV Series Worth Watching
The great thing about the interwebs is that once a program has already gone to air, you can luck out and watch them all in a row instead of having to wait a week between episodes !!! Love doing that, hate doing the latter.
Black Mirror, on it's way.

Re: TV Series Worth Watching
True, but there is the chance of somebody spoiling it and having the whole series ruined! -If you do it that way. -Not that I'm suggesting it.
I mean... only the most cruel heartless person would do that. They would hafto be A real scumbag to even have the thought cross their minds in the first place. gah!...The nerve of that person!
