Re: Post your Car
Awesome zeb, what a car. A true motor vehicle that people not in the know of it's mechanical underpinnings and heritage will be none the wiser. Designed then built in the factory with a man or woman of the people in mind. -Thinking persons car. People probably stop and the street when they see it and go 'holy cow!, who owns that! Unbelievable speed and street cred! Goes like the wind I'll bet.{FB}Zebitty wrote:Had to post something here even if I don't have a photo (or even a car to photograph yet), but I'm too excited about this to wait until I have the keys in the ignition. This week, we ordered a new car to replace our very dilapidated ford falcon station wagon. I'm now playing the waiting game until our shiny new Audi RS6 (C7 version) turns up. The worst part is that it's a 20-26 week wait, so I won't actually have it until June/July, but as soon as it shows up, I'll post pics and some initial impressions
Might go play some GTA V to take my mind off cars
The audi RS6 looks good too.

Re: Post your Car
Thanks wags Now I have to work out how to take my mind off it until it arrives. June/July they are telling me.
Oh and one other little score! A little bird tipped me off that the NSW number plate 'RS6' was available. I checked. It was. So I ordered it and have it being held by the motor registry until the car arrives. Since the car is red with black trim, I opted for a completely black number plate with the lettering in red, to match the bodywork on the car.

Re: Post your Car
Ok - a quick heads up. Picking up the car a little earlier than anticipated. It's a bit of a long story, so I'll post details later.
Crap weather here today so prob no pics, but as soon as the rain stops and we get some sunshine, I'll take a few happy snaps and post em here
WooHoo!!

A few pics. So-so quality as they were taken using my phone .. also it's been raining all weekend here so lots of muddy water etc .. already needs a wash.
When the "RS6" plates turn up, I'll get it washed, attach the new plates and post a pic with maximum shiny-ness

Re: Post your Car
Somewhat miffed, I am.
I was expecting something slightly more star wars and arma 3 'ish'.
Surely the 'star commander soldier bounty hunter' that your profile suggested you would need something that could... fire photon lazers, take somebody down at 100 yards with a single bullet, and mow animals down easily. And carry interstellar cargo.
I wonder what vader himself would say about this, I imagine in that wheezing voice.

Re: Post your Car
Heh - actually it has quite a few features that I was amazed to see. For example, it has a thermal camera that gives night vision up to 300m in front of the car. You can see engine blocks and disc brakes glowing white hot, while the surrounding parts are darker. It really does look like the thermal vision (white hot mode) that some of the vehicles in Arma II / III have. It even recognises people, animals etc and highlites them with a yellow box, which turns to red if the car calculates that they are going to get in your way. It also has a heads up display for speed, navigation, lane departure warning etc. I assumed that it would be decently visible at night but hard to see during the day, however, it has a very convincing 3d effect such that the information seems to float in mid air 2-3 meters in front of the car, and even in broad daylight it's highly visible and easy to read.
There are a lot of cool little tech features like that all over the car that you wouldn't even know are there until you sit in the drivers seat and become aware of them when they fire up.
Oh and it uses google earth (if you turn on the option) for the navigation system, so you can get map view, satelite view etc .. just like in your web browser.
I'm still slogging my way through the ~1 inch thick owners manual so I'll probably get to the part about the lasers and the warp drive as I get further into the manual

Well, it does go pretty fast. Maybe there's a layer of red paint underneath the blue paint?

Watch out for that Duran fella Zeb... rumour has it he may be a Klingon! Drives a red commodore earth travelling device, but may be a Chevrolet (could be a master of deception and stealth) . Also appears affected by gravity with no lift devices. Very peculiar.
Approach with caution and shields at full strength.

Klingons have been known to employ cloaking devices. I'll see if I can find some sort of detection system. Maybe at Dick Smith or Radio Shack.

Re: Post your Car
I really liked 'CRH 39Z' though. That's the sort of text you would see on a prototype Czech republic sub-atomic diffusal device.
I can picture it now...in 1000 years the aliens would scrub back the layer of dust over the plate -The whitel led drl running lights still glowing. And a dark thundery sky.
In a beepey boop sound (heck they evolved to it) they would say to each other "this is where it all went to hell..." The germans should not have released this. Dear god have mercy on them. Damn you CRH 39Z!"

Re: Post your Car
I know right. Keep it under your hat but the reason I changed was that I had to give the CRH plates back. They were issued to me as a result of a cleric error. Two guys wearing cheap suits and speaking with russian accents came to the house and 'suggested' that I make arrangements to hand them back and the took something from under the bonnet and left.

Re: Post your Car
The plates are probably what caused that meteor shower in russia a little while back. -Aliens. Definitely aliens.
Look- anyway, It was probably for the best. I know I wouldn't want those Russian plates on my conscience.
