The Rise of Far Cry... Again

Ahoy there fellow Far Cryians from the past.

A couple of weeks ago i thought i would install far cry on my lappy and give single player a bash for old times sake. After installing i decided to try multiplayer and found that all servers now are in Europe (Boooo)
So i thought "How cool would it be to play online again with the old gang just for kicks like the old days". A lot of people told me that i shouldn't waste my time as the game is old and no-one plays it anymore... Me being me and wanting to prove them all wrong, i went ahead and decided to try anyway...
Long story short... I have contacted a few of the guys from FCP (greatest Far Cry clan ever) you do remember us pwning you guys in scrims right??? lol
Anyway, we created a dedicated server tonight for 6 of us to play on and i have to say that it was like i last played yesterday. I havent played online FC for over 5 years now and it all came flooding back to me.
The guys loved playing it as much as i did and want to play more. But we do need more players to make the game more exciting like it use to be once when there were full servers.
If this sounds like something that any of you might be interested in then dust off your copy of far cry, download the 1.4 patch and express your interest on our forums. It would be great to play with you guys again and even some new comers as well. If you dont have a copy, goto EB and grab one for $20. Its still well worth it. If you have any problems installing it for any reason, please feel free to ask any questions on our forums at our site (because i can't post sites on here for 7 days due to being a new member, please feel free to ask for it or google us. I really do hope you consider playing again as we could arrange scrims as well just like we use to back in the day

Caeper! I remember that guy. wait. Bloody hell when are we gonna see the next JClegion video? been waiting ages!

I had real headache with patching the old farcry when garcy made a server back in october... Single player was broken, see through walls. The game had to be patched in a specific order. The maps I had heaps of trouble finding but the download was small . Its the version of the maps was messed up. Then I couldnt find local servers!

arrgh... anyway what day / time you thinkin' ?

At the moment it's just an idea. I would really like to see it happen in the next week or 2, but i think the next month is more realistic.
At the moment we are running 1.4 patch and having no problems with it at all.
Also running the default maps that come with the original game. Just for now so we can get on and play without everyone having to download different map packs etc. too much of a pain in the ass.

Anywho, let the guys know, see what they all think and get back to me. I think it would be awesome to scrim again like the old days. Playing it last night only for a couple of hours brought back a lot of memories and i found it as exciting to play as i did back then

I have a couple of ton of 249 lead I've collected of yours over the years, so if ya short u know who to call.

There's still a few FC boys in the shadows here, I hear a few reaching for their old 249 just because they heard Caeper was lurking , but the problem will be getting them to fire again, its been awhile.

Anyway leave us your Forum details and FC server name and who knows who might turn up.

10.30 -can't do tonight as I have some work. But the game seems good to go... runs amazingly well, new dvd drive, new computer. 64bit...there wasnt that same messing about.

Guess I completely forgot october was on the back of battlefield 3 coming out, so havent touched it for a while.

Yeah, me 2 until recently. I put it on to play single player whist at work lol
Then i thought how awesome would it be to play online again.
I got now problems running it apart from a bit of lag every now and then, but that should be fixed by tomorrow hopefully

Just in case any of you are trying to join the FCP server to have a game, it has a slight problem at the moment.
Hopefully be up and running again in a few minutes... I'll keep you posted

hmm how nuts. gonna try make Saturday. I have no idea how many or not so many can make it. !!! How are people connecting to the server. Shit I cant remember my old ubi details either haha. To think i new my key off by heart for so long. Now all but forgotten =[

The hardest thing I found was installing it. Once installed its just a matter of logging in with your old details. If that fails, just create another ubi login. It takes literally 5 minutes. Just don't forget the 1.4 patch. We have paid for an awesome server. Its name is FCP and the password is the same (all in capitals) get on and give it a go and see if it works. I think you'll be surprised. I was getting a ping of 60 from a 3G connection. Anyway, even if you don't get more players fora scrim, still jump on Saturday night fora bit of fun anyway

okay thus far i have recruited white lynx to join us. I am sure he can get some others no doubt. BTW i trust you have dropped a note in PwR's forums? Pretty much always gonna have a couple ppl there interested. Just for the note, how many ppl can the server take?

Its either 16 or 32. I'll have to look later on. Speaking of which, we'll be on tonight if youre up for a game for fun. Should be on at around 9

Hey Caeper if you can post (here and/or in the PWR forums) the server/ts details and the game timings for Saturday we might be able to get a few going.

16 player server, password is FCP.

We actually have a Ventrilo Voice server. Have found that its very good to use with all the same features as TS.
So if you download Ventrilo, the hostname is fc.thefcpclan.com and it isnt password protected (mainly because we just boot who we don't want lol

I'll goto the PWR site now and post all the goodies there

Had no luck getting it join the server on the past two weeks. Fair to say It's dampened my motivation to attempt getting farcry running again. I was just after a couple games though for nostalgia not so much a weekly get together or to get any good at it again, so no big deal.
