Mobile Browser

Post by {FB}Alnitro on Thu 01 Dec 2011, 4:59 pm

Hi guys while away I've been playing with my Galaxy S phone & Galaxy Tab 7"
I found my tab kept locking up while surfing the net & shuting down for no reason at all
the standard Browser was Google but now I'm useing Opera mobile & have found it much better with no lockups yet so it makes posting less frustrating. Also Opera is alot easier to navigate

Ah i was wondering where you were al. Holidays or just "away" break from gaming?

Interesting what you say about your mobile experience there. I dont have the option to interchange my browser apps. More truthfully i probably do and just havent bothered to find out and attempt it. By default the iphone 4 uses safari.I am yet to experience any issues with it. The OS on the phone seems quite stable also.

Although I use firefox on my PC, the android version of firefox is very flakey. It has a nice feature that syncs all your bookmarks, browsing history etc b/w desktop and mobile device so I perservered with it for a few weeks but after constant lock ups, crashes, terrible performance and failure to correctly display mobile device specific websites I eventually ditched firefox and switched to Dolphin.

Yeah I know - I'd never heard of it before either. They don't make a version for PC/Mac etc - only mobile devices. AND .. I have to say, this strategy of focusing on a single platform and getting it right seems to be working for them because it's a really good browser. Tons of nice features, full suite of tabbed browsing tools, gesture shortcuts, password manager, loads fast, displays pretty much everything (so far) correctly etc. Give it a go - it's worth a look.

yeah I saw that one Zeb it was going to be my next try seems very popular but Opera is working well for me at the momment, thx for the feed back it's good to know there are other options out there & I did see firefox got a bad rap so I gave it a miss. Now all we have to do is wait for Steam to sort out a mobile Steam so we can purchase the specials while away from our PC's

yeh i recall seeing an app that gave notifications of specials on steam, but it didnt seem to have any 'shopping' component to it - won't be far off i'm guessing.

I use Opera on my android phone, does the job for me!

Would be good to see a "shopping" steam app, though these app stores dont allow 3rd party purchase apps at the moment, that I know of.
