Which browser do mostly you use? And why?
Which browser do you use? (and why - please comment)
I use Firefox but I'm thinking of changing. Since installing 6.0, I keep getting this annoying error where FF freezes and the (Not Responding) tag shows in the window header. After 10-15 sec, FF resumes functioning .. (or perhaps it smoothly manages to kill off the hung process and restart FF without making it look like a restart)
In any case, it's really starting to annoy me and there's a TON of other people on the FF Forums reporting the same problem and no official response from FF devs and none of the suggested fixes seem to work.
Tried Chrome but there are few little things about Chrome that annoy me too. Like when you open a new tab. There are NO config options to direct the new tab to a specific webpage - it defaults to the 'new tab' page which shows recently visited pages, recently closed pages and also contains ads for Chrome addons which I have never heaerd of and don't want. The official line from google is that "there is NO config option for the new tab page - it's meant to work the way it works and only that way"
Also, there is no simple way to export passwords if I later decide I want to switch to a different browser.
Anyone used Opera? Is it decent? Or do I have to go back to using Internet Exploder?
Zeb.

Firefox mainly but no probs yet
IE as well, some times get errors when closing single tabs if I have a few opened
I think VSync uses Opera & he likes it

I use Safari 95% of the time and explorer occasionally.
Safari seems to perform very well and as a web developer I like the interpretation of designed pages. It seems to replicate a more, as designed look. Unusual as it may sound some browsers show very different results.
When it comes to banking however I use my 64 bit explorer.
All have their own quirky features but safari has gained my attention for now.

I tend to use firefox or chrome now and then.
mostly firefox due to the addons that help. i use firefox at work so i can use the grease monkey scripts to add functionality to web pages.

Firefox all the time. I get annoyed with programs that try to ween their way into every other aspect of your computing operations. I do not have any problems with new FF either. Unlike poor zeb. It is solid as all get out for me and i like its simpler (to me anyway) interface. It's not too polished looking. But i have noticed it's easy to understand interface/appearance has been taking a few steps back recently.

I have issues with Win 7 and FF5.0 and IE9, small although annoying. Both have issues in my case with Adobe flash player?
Now back on FF 4.0.1 and IE 8 and rather happy. It was hard reverting from IE9 back to 8 as 9 is so much quicker on my PC. It was also quicker than FF 4 & 5 for me?

Re: Which browser do you use? (and why - please comment)
I've always wanted to know which browser is the safest. Considering so many stories involve problems or threats that were picked up while surfing.
Microsoft updates are so frequent and regular, for what reason?
Is it security or is it poor programming?
I would have thought security, perhaps we should have more faith in microsoft products because they seem to be more focussed on stopping breaches, after all they should understand their own OS. How can outsiders know it better?
So my feeling is we should possibly use explorer for the possible logic of being safer, what do you think?
How would you test?

I think the reason MS release patches so often is that IE is the most common browser, so it's the one hackers target the most often.
Also, I'd suggest that there are not that many people at MS who have a complete understanding of how the OS works. (I worked as a technical trainer for Microsoft for ~10 years before retraining as a chiropractor) Much of the coding for their products is done by outsourced development teams .. often in cheap labour (but tech savvy) contries such as India. Even then, those guys are contracted to write certain modules within the code and often are oblivious to how their code will interact with other modules being developed elsewhere.
Many of the security vulnerabilies with Windows arise from inconsistencies with how differt, separately developed, modules interact (or don't) with one another.
I think the main 4-5 browsers available are as secure as one another, and all are vulnerable in one way or another, often due to weaknesses in the underlying O/S.

I use Internet explorer . I think it came already installed on my computer. I've always used it for everything and have never got a virus, trojan, malware or other.
