Steam Downtime Tonight
By Brenna Hillier - Mon Oct 11, 2010 3:06am
Sometimes living in the future pays off - when our release date works out almost twenty-four hours before the US, for example, and we can do a bit of "oh it's so good", and upset them as have not got it yet.
But as great as those yuks are, more often our bizarre time zone causes strife and despair. As tonight, when a Steam downtime falls right in the middle of prime gaming time. Curses.
Valve have thoughtfully scheduled their maintenance period in the quietest hours of their most populated user base (the US, of course), running from four in the morning Pacific time.
Sadly, that's half past nine this evening Adelaide time, so just after the schoolies have been put to bed and the local hardcore players settle in for the duration.
The downtime is expected to run for four hours, but that could, of course, be Valve time. Luckily, any games with non-Steam matchmaking services should still be good to go, so while you may have to cancel your Team Fortress 2 and left 4 Dead marathons, you can still find something to do.

Re: Steam Downtime
heh - world of warcraft had maintenance EVERY tue night at 9pm AEST, which was, of course, the quietest time for their US based customers.
