Bluetooth headsets...
Anyone here use a bluetooth headset for hands free mobile phone usage?
I've come to the realisation that I need one for work - as using the computer and talking to patients on the phone at the same time is fiddly.
I've often said to my wife that if she ever sees me wearing one of those headsets she's got my persmissions to shoot me in the head, given how tragically geeky they look, but I guess as long as it ONLY for work I can live with it. What I really think looks stupid is the 'trendy' guy who walks around at the mall or the beach or wherever wearing one - ffs just hold the damn phone near your ear - it's not like you have anything else to do with your hands when you're walking along at the mall.
Anyway .. I digress .. if anyone uses one of these and can recommend a good make/model, or warn me off a product that is sub par, I'd be quite interested to hear ppls opinions.
Cost is not an issue as work is paying for it

Re: Bluetooth headsets...
Its not that they're trendy or geeky or expensive, its that it often looks like there is no headset and the user is talking to themself!
So If I had to buy one, quality aside, I would want it to look obvious. A long boom for the microphone. Something tactical/agent smith/fbi looking? like a light headphone with mike? James bond style wristwatch?

Re: Bluetooth headsets...
No - the talking to oneself thing is not a problem for me. It's more about people wearing one when there's absolutely no need for it. Perhaps they think it makes them look hip/with it/cool??
Like I said, if someone wears it for work (where they need hands free for other stuff, maybe a bike courier, or a receptionist for example) that's fine .. it's the guy who walks around at the beach or at a party with one on that annoys me.
Did a little reading earlier today and seems prices range from $50ish up to $200 for the most expensive ones. Might trawl the review sites and see what tech editors/reviewers think.

OK - got one of these today ( http://www.cnet.com.au/blueant-t1-headset-339304159.htm )
Seems ok so far .. I'll let you know after a few weeks of use.
I really wanted to get the Nokia J, but had no luck finding one in stock anywhere.

Re: Bluetooth headsets...
I believe,
Phase 1 conversations will be- 'I'm just using it for work'.
phase 2 is- 'Hi phil,... nah its ok mate- got the bluetooth on in the Mercedes...'
phase 4- 'Put the gun down! no, not you I mean you. No the guy on the phone'
bang!

Re: Bluetooth headsets...
Stick to the Blueant products and you should be safe, I've had to use them for work when driving and also in the office due to the volume of calls we get and they've been fairly solid. The worse thing is trying to remember to put the blasted thing on charge!
The T1 is meant to be a nice unit, if it fails on you try the Q2 - http://reviews.cnet.com/headsets/blueant-q2/4505-13831_7-34145281.html

Actually - my wife nabbed the blue ant TI when she saw it. I wasn't too upset though, since I found somewhere that sells the nokia J -got it yesterday and it's pretty impressive. It's about 2.5 - 3cm long, the ear but looks like an ipod headphone bud and it works very nicely.

Re: Bluetooth headsets...
Thats really nice Zeb, might have to go get one myself. I assume being bluetooth it's universal for use and not limited to nokia phones?
